Missing Instance

Postby etraan on Thu Jun 10, 2010 2:22 pm

I've just re-installed the MCS version 2.5.5024.110.

"browseinstances" returns Total=0.

At the end of the install.log got an error message:

2010-06-10 18:09:06,992 [Services] INFO Setup [(null)] - Adding file to GAC: C:\Program Files (x86)\Autonomic Controls\Media Control Server\bin\FX2_0\Autonomic.Interop.WMC.dll
2010-06-10 18:09:07,064 [Services] ERROR Setup [(null)] - Error Adding file to GAC: 0x1

I am lost. Any feedback will be welcome.

Thanks,

Greg.

I've got rid of the "Error adding file to GAC" by removing the Autonomic.Interop.WMC from /windows/assembly and re-installing. I still can not see the instance. The instance is configured as Media source = Windows Media Center on a default sound card. If I switch the media source to WMP, then I can see the instance. But I need to run the WMC as source.

Please help.

Mistery solved - newb.

I did not know that I have to run WMC to see the instance.

I had the same problem a few times. After restarting the system the instances are back. Sometimes only one instance is missing other times two or more missing. They are all local instances (polytunes + MCE) I could not determine yet what makes them disappear.
